Writing the Collective: Transcending Creative Solitude

Guides: Maya Rachel Stein + Amy Tingle

During this one-day writing class, we’ll examine how turning the solitary act of writing into a communal, collaborative experience can give new depth and dimension to our creative work. In this workshop, we will explore the joys and challenges of sharing our creative efforts more publicly and learn new practices to tap into the power of vulnerability and bolster self-confidence. We’ll be working with a variety of writing prompts, as well as space and time paramaters as guides for producing new work.

The gorgeous Outer Banks setting will be the backdrop for this writing immersion where we will focus on finding fresh entry-points and new pathways to develop and expand our stories. Participants will be inspired to listen more deeply to their creative voice and re-approach what may be long-held narratives with more care, affection, and forgiveness. This full-day class is a great way to jump-start or continue a writing practice and explore in a safe, comfortable and productive space.

No writing experience necessary; all levels are encouraged to join us.

What to bring: Either a laptop or a journal and favorite writing instrument.
