Practical Magic is a class encompassing the creation of personal altars, the enchantment of sun printing by the sea, along with some playful vision boarding.

In our time together, we will ignite our relationship with serendipity, aligning with our soul’s siren songs and longings. Using natural elements found while combing the beach, along with sentimental totems we bring from home such as feathers, pods, petals, shell, wings, etc. we will be creating ephemeral personal altars. Altars are visual metaphors, a conversation physically and spiritually with objects that reconnect our spirit with mystery. A part of the charm of altars is that they are a way to say thank you, to tell our story, to honor, or to release what no longer serves us.

Later, we’ll create exquisite Persian blue cyanotype (sun) prints. Cyanotype is the oldest non-silver photographic printing process. The sun will act as our camera capturing gorgeous images. These prints will serve as lovely reminders of our shared connection with one another.

In the afternoon we will gather around the table together to listen to music and create playful vision boards discovering what is at the heart of our dreams and ushering them into daylight.

Jen and Madelyn always make magic when they are together, so be assured this day will be full of beauty and goodness.

What to bring: Cherished objects such as photographs, shells, feathers, leaves, amulets, stones, poems, a journal, pen, and camera (iPhone, point and shoot, DSLR – any will do), old/new magazines for vision boarding (there will be stacks of magazines there as well for you to use)
