Process & Practice: The Transformative Power of Photography

Guide: Tracey Clark

Photography is often saddled with technical pressure that can keep us from tapping into our true photographic potential. Dismantling any photo-preconceptions we might have is essential to trusting our cameras, our process and ourselves. True transformation (photographically and personally) lies within that trust.

No matter your camera type or expertise (or lack thereof) we will all begin class with a clean slate, learning how to see the world around us in a whole new light. From this fresh perspective, you will embark on our journey towards a photographic practice that will cultivate our creativity, ignite our passion, focus on gratitude, and discover everyday magic, all while capturing images that have the power to transform us.

We will cover in detail topics such as, the language of light, the art of composition, the significance and symbolism of subject matter, the importance of exploration, the power of play and the value of our own unique vision. We will also be printing out some of our favorite images from class and creating simple photo keepsakes for visual inspiration to take home.

What to Bring:  Please bring a camera (any kind will do, even your iPhone), a way to download your images (cables, laptop), journal and pen.

Materials Fee: $20
